Began as a volunteer-run initiative (c/o Food #03) in Feb 2009 to provide dinners to residents of the rental flats in the Jalan Besar and Lavender Street neighbourhood.

We pack and deliver food every Tuesday.

Sponsor Meals

The Soup Kitchen Project (Singapore) has been gifting food to residents for the past 12 years. At the moment, we gift 420 meals each week. We need $420 weekly to fund the dinners.

We are looking for sponsors for these meals - any amount you can contribute comfortably is always helpful. For contributing, please PM us at +65-80301810 to find out more.

Weekly Volunteers

Our weekly volunteers pack and deliver food (by foot) every Tuesday from 5.15-7.45pm.

Volunteers should ideally enjoy interacting with the residents, are able to walk and handle stairs, and new volunteers should be willing to be paired with other volunteers.

Our volunteers are crucial to the Soup Kitchen Project. Without their tireless efforts, we would not have been able to carry on for the last 12 years.

Here are some ways which you can participate:

Our weekly volunteer IC conducts roll call, volunteer briefings and designates volunteers on the distribution routes every Tuesday from 5.15 to 7.45pm.

ICs should ideally enjoy interacting with others and are good at managing people.

Special Projects emerge periodically throughout the year. Some Special Projects are:

  • Checking in on the residents when they are in need of help
  • Solving financial and health problems
  • Befriending lonely residents
  • Maintaining our website
  • Organising sponsorship programmes
  • Arranging for holiday gifts for children
  • Running our interview team

On top of these, we also conduct walk-abouts in the neighbourhood to check-in on the residents and update our distribution list.

We will post announcements via social media when we need help for such special initiatives.

About us

The Soup Kitchen Project began as a volunteer-run initiative (c/o Food #03) in Feb 2009 to provide dinners to residents of rental flats in our neighbourhood. The plan was simple: To cook vegetarian meals and gift them to people who appreciate this simple gesture. Volunteers did this on Mondays because Food #03 was closed, and they could use the space for cooking and packing food.

Initially, we started giving out about 25 packets of food weekly. Today, we provide 420 dinners every Tuesday, primarily in the Jalan Besar-Lavender neighbourhood in Singapore.
